Will Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski throw 108 MPH? Pitcher says it’s possible

It seems like every year the National League Central is supposed to be one of the most competitive divisions in baseball, and then the Milwaukee Brewers (50-29) explode and build a commanding lead in the summer. Pat Murphy’s squad continues to smash expectations. The franchise’s eye for talent and elite developmental program have produced a model of consistency that can overcome small-market limitations. Jacob Misiorowski is the face of this latest iteration of Brew Crew excellence.

One man does not often attract such a large chunk of public attention on this team. Milwaukee collectively wears down opponents by playing the game the right way. That central aspect of the ballclub’s identity remains intact, to be certain, but a huge amount of star power is also radiating from American Family Field. Misiorowski is blazing a path into the history books, and unfathomably, the young ace may actually have more in the tank than he has shown thus far.

Following a brilliant performance against the Chicago Cubs, which saw him fire a 105.5 mph pitch to star center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong in the first inning (was stunningly fouled off), Misiorowski weighed in on the chances of reaching a record-breaking 106.

“I definitely think its possible,” the current Cy Young favorite said, per ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, after allowing one run and recording eight strikeouts in Friday’s 6-2 win over the Cubs. “Science says you can hit 108. Someone eventually is going to hit it. If that’s me, cool. I don’t think that’s something I need to focus on. Speed is cool but if it doesn’t win a ballgame it doesn’t matter.”

Misiorowski’s nonchalant dominance perfectly sums up the Brewers Way. The 24-year-old, who thinks he actually slipped on the aforementioned 105.5 mph laser beam, has an MLB-best 1.45 ERA to go along with an MLB-best 146 strikeouts through 99 innings pitched.

Milwaukee will brace itself for another mind-boggling showcase when Jacob Misiorowski takes the mound against the Cincinnati Reds next week.
