Why WWE moved Money in the Bank 2026 in surprising switch-up

In an interesting move, the upcoming 2026 WWE Money in the Bank PLE has been moved on the calendar, and the reason why may have emerged.

WWE announced that Money in the Bank 2026 would take place on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Previously, it was supposed to take place on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026. It would then be pushed to Sunday, Sep. 6, 2026, before moving it to Oct. 10. In its place, an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event will air on Sep. 6, emanating from Atlanta, Georgia.

Fightful Select originally reported that the move was made due to “a scheduling matter with broadcast partners.” However, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer later said it was a “touring schedule” problem.

WWE is set to broadcast Friday Night SmackDown on Friday, Sep. 4, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The following Monday, they will broadcast RAW live from Birmingham, Alabama. They are then set to embark on a tour of South America. So, as Alvarez noted, “the production trucks would be too far away to do the PLE that day.”

Fans hoping to secure tickets to Money in the Bank will have an opportunity soon. Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 10, at 10 am EST on Ticketmaster. A pre-sale for registered fans will be held the day before, July 9, at 10 am EST.

Of course, On Location is offering special Priority Passes. These packages usually offer unique experiences, such as making pasta for Clash in Italy.

This is the latest that an annual Money in the Bank PLE will take place. Usually, it comes in the months after WrestleMania and before SummerSlam. However, WWE is taking a new approach this year by having it later, perhaps allowing Superstars to hold the briefcases until WrestleMania more easily.
