Why David Adelman has given Tim Hardaway Jr. the green light amid the Nuggets’ 10-game win streak

The Denver Nuggets are building more momentum heading into the playoffs as they notched their 10th straight win on Wednesday, beating the Memphis Grizzlies, 136-119, at Ball Arena.

The Nuggets improved to 52-28 and recorded their longest winning streak since Nikola Jokic joined the team in 2014. They also increased their lead over the Los Angeles Lakers for the third seed in the Western Conference to one and a half games.

Jokic tallied 14 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists for his 34th triple-double of the season, while Jamal Murray had 26 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Tim Hardaway Jr. also contributed, scoring 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including three three-pointers. He has been a key factor in the Nuggets’ success all season, providing instant scoring off the bench.

Denver coach David Adelman lauded Hardaway for “creating runs” whenever he is on the floor. Adelman also maintained that he has no problem with the veteran guard letting it fly.

“His green light is as bright as it can be. I’m very okay with him shooting the ball,” said Adelman, as quoted by DNVR Sports’ Brendan Vogt.

Hardaway is averaging 9.7 attempts per game, including 6.8 from three-point range. He shoots close to 45% from the field, including 40.9% from long distance. Hardaway has the second-most three-pointers in a season in team history with 221 and counting.

When the Nuggets added the 34-year-old sniper in the offseason, many thought that he would play a minimal role and simply try to piggyback on Jokic to win his first ring.

But Hardaway has carved out a consistent role under Adelman’s system. He is averaging 13.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 26.6 minutes, while also providing leadership and steadiness.
