Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell believes the organization can eventually follow a similar path to the New York Knicks despite the team’s disappointing Eastern Conference Finals exit Monday night.

The Cavaliers’ season officially ended after a 130-93 blowout loss in Game 4 completed a four-game sweep, sending the Knicks to the NBA Finals for the first time in 27-years.

Following the loss, Mitchell reflected on the difficult experience while expressing confidence that Cleveland can learn from the defeat moving forward. SNY Knicks later took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing Mitchell’s honest reaction following the season-ending loss.

“This team that we just faced had to go through this. Maybe not this way but they’ve been a core group & had to go through this tough experience. It’s our turn. I’m sorry for the city of Cleveland for it to be like this in a sweep, that’s ass”
