What Dodgers’ Max Muncy said about 3-HR game, including walk-off bomb
With the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2026 season underway, the main trend for the team has been comeback wins, as they have won another on Friday night in the 8-7 win over the Texas Rangers. The Dodgers were helped by Max Muncy and his three home runs, which included a walk-off, as he spoke after the game about the special moment.
Friday marks the second time in Muncy’s career that he has had a three-home run game, as the first came in the bottom of the second inning, then in the fourth, and finally the solo shot that was the game-winner in the ninth.
“I still think about the first time I did it,” Muncy said, according to ESPN. “To get the win on top of it, it’s great.”
The first home run that Muncy hit was the 211th recorded with Los Angeles, which puts him third all-time in the franchise’s history, overtaking Steve Garvey. He’s feeling spry at 35 years old, with even Muncy saying how healthy he feels.
“I just feel healthy, that’s kind of the most important thing right now,” Muncy said. “I feel like I’m moving really well, I feel like I’m getting good reads on the ball. Most important, my feet are moving on every ground ball, and that’s something I’ve always struggled with in the past. I just get stuck a little bit, and that puts me in bad position on certain hops.”
Dodgers’ Dave Roberts on what he’s seen from Max Muncy
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts would speak about what he’s seen from Munch as of late, as, besides his play at third base, he’s been hitting the ball well to start, recording a .286 batting average, now with four home runs and four RBIs.
“He’s just playing the heck out of third base, he’s taking good at-bats, and right now he’s had a good start,” Roberts said about Muncy, who signed a one-year deal with Los Angeles in the offseason, which could have freed up the veteran’s mind more.
Muncy and the Dodgers look to keep it going as the series against Texas continues on Saturday.
