'We are family' - Jalandhar Warriors skipper Prabhsimran Singh dedicates win to Anmol Malhotra's family after mother's demise
Jalandhar Warriors defeated Ludhiana Lions by 7 runs in a Sher-E-Punjab T20 League match at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday, September 8. The Warriors posted 169 for 8 in their innings, with Gourav Markan scoring 52 off 43 deliveries and captain Prabhsimran Singh contributing 39 off 30 balls. Ludhiana Lions reached 160 for 6 in their chase but fell short of the target.
Following the victory, Jalandhar Warriors captain Prabhsimran Singh dedicated the win to the family of teammate Anmol Malhotra, whose mother had passed away three days prior. The team had visited Anmol's house before the match to express their condolences and stand with him during the difficult period.
After the game against Ludhiana, Prabhsimran spoke about the team's commitment to their teammate during this challenging time, as he asserted that the Warriors are one family.
"We had a meeting yesterday. We went to Anmol’s house and expressed our deepest condolences. We are indebted to Anmol for contributing to our team despite battling personal grief," Prabhsimran said after the match.
"We stand with him in this tough time. We are family and would always be there for him," the 26-year-old added.
Prabhsimran, the Punjab Kings' wicketkeeper-batter, has been in exemplary form in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League. He is the leading run-scorer so far in the tournament, having amassed 484 runs in just seven innings. His average is a whopping 96.80, and his strike rate of 203.36 is equally impressive.
Prabhsimran received his maiden India call-up during the tour of Zimbabwe in July. However, he didn't get a game, as Ishan Kishan played all three T20Is as the wicketkeeper-batter.

Prabhsimran has not been picked in India's squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi. Sanju Samson and Kishan are the two wicketkeeping options for the Men in Blue. However, if Prabhsimran continues performing so well, the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee will be in for a serious selection headache.
