[WATCH] WPL 2026: Nandani Sharma becomes fourth bowler to take hat-trick, claims rare double

Delhi Capitals Women pacer Nandani Sharma produced a sensational spell in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026, claiming a memorable hat-trick against Gujarat Giants Women in Match No. 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, January 11.

Making only her second appearance in the WPL, Nandani delivered a performance to remember, turning the tide late in the innings despite Gujarat Giants Women posting a massive total of 209 runs. Her hat-trick was the first of the 2026 season and the fourth overall in WPL history. Gujarat Giants were cruising for most of the innings, powered by another explosive batting effort led by Sophie Devine.

Nandani changed the momentum dramatically in the final over. She first dismissed Kashvee Gautam and followed it up by removing Kanika Ahuja on the very next delivery, bringing the run flow to an abrupt halt. On the third ball, Rajeshwari Gayakwad fell, completing Nandani’s hat-trick and sending shockwaves through the stadium.

The drama did not end there. Nandani struck again on the very next delivery as Renuka Singh Thakur became the fourth wicket in four balls, handing her a rare double hat-trick and effectively bowling out Gujarat Giants Women. She finished with outstanding figures of 5/33, which stands as the fifth-best bowling figures in WPL history and the third five-wicket haul ever recorded by a Delhi Capitals bowler in the competition.

With this feat, Nandani became only the fourth bowler to take a hat-trick in WPL history, following Issy Wong in 2023, Deepti Sharma in 2024, and Grace Harris in 2025. She is also just the second Indian and only the second fast bowler to achieve this milestone.

Nandani’s heroics lifted the morale in the Delhi Capitals camp as the team prepared to chase a daunting target of 210. After losing their opening match against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals will be eager to secure their first win of the WPL 2026, riding on the confidence provided by this extraordinary bowling performance.
