How did Match 23 of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 go between India Women and Bangladesh Women?
India kept their hopes of reaching the semi-final alive with a comfortable five-wicket win against Bangladesh at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Thursday, June 25.
Nigar Sultana won the toss on Thursday and opted to bat first. India picked up an early wicket as Dilara Akter was dismissed by Renuka Singh. Juairiya Ferdous and Sobhana Mostary stitched a 51-run stand to take their team into a solid position.
Mostary was dismissed for 22 in the 13th over. At the end of the 16th over, Bangladesh reached 106 with seven wickets still left in the bank. However, India prevented their neighbours from finishing off strongly. The last four overs for Bangladesh yielded just 30 and five wickets.
Bangladesh finished on 136/8 in 20 overs, on a good wicket to bat on. In reply, Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for eight, but Shafali Verma took the Bangladesh bowlers to the cleaners from the other end. The youngster was eventually dismissed for 53 off 34 balls in the ninth over. Yastika Bhatia got herself a start but couldn't convert it into a substantial score. Richa Ghosh was promoted to No. 4, but she could only make 10 runs.
Jemimah Rodrigues played an enterprising cameo of 26 runs off 15 balls before Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma took India home in 16.5 overs.
