The closest a Massachusetts-born player came to being the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft happened in 2013, when the Philadelphia 76ers selected Nerlens Noel, who hails from Everett, Massachusetts, with the sixth overall pick.

Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa is entering his first NBA season with all the confidence in the world as the top NBA prospect of the draft. Dybantsa revealed what his NBA2K rating should be, and Brockton, Massachusetts native wasn’t modest in his prediction.
Although most NBA rookies receive below a 70 player rating in the popular video game, Dybantsa believes he’s an exception to the NBA2K standard, he said, per Complex Sports.
“I’m a rookie so they probably give rookies like 70s?” Dybantsa said. “I’m giving myself a 79-80 [overall]. I’m giving myself 80.”

While some argue that Utah Jazz’s second overall pick — Darryn Peterson — could turn out to have a better NBA career than Dybantsa, the Wizards’ top prospect is determined to prove his naysayers wrong.
