Watch Dream’s Angel Reese score her 1,000th career WNBA point

Angel Reese is on track to becoming one of the best rebounders in WNBA history, leading the league on a per game basis in each of her first two seasons and vying for the title again in 2026. That elite skill yields plenty of scoring opportunities. The Atlanta Dream star forward surpassed 1,000 career points during Tuesday’s 91-75 home win versus the Connecticut Sun, but she did not need to crash the glass to reach this milestone.

Reese hit the mark after nailing her first 3-pointer of the campaign, which came from the left corner in the final minute of the third quarter. She finished with 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting to go along with 13 boards, five assists and one steal.

There are other players Atlanta looks to on offense — Rhyne Howard dropped a game-high 36 points after an unconscious shooting display from 3-point land and Dream season-leading scorer Allisha Gray added 26 — but Reese has the ability to get buckets. Her latest achievement reflects as much.

The two-time All-Star, who arrived in the ATL via an April trade with the Chicago Sky, was averaging 13.1 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 40.8 percent from the floor entering the Sun game. Reese’s modest field goal percentage has long been a topic of conversation among WNBA fans, particularly given her 6-foot-4 frame, and there is obviously still room for improvement. But this double-double machine adds ample value in the frontcourt.

If Angel Reese can clean up her offensive game a bit, then the Dream could clinch their first semifinals appearance since 2018. No. 5 will work toward her next 1,000 points and try to help Atlanta (6-2) grab first place in the league standings. Next up is a Thursday night showdown with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever (4-4).
