Warriors’ Yaxel Lendeborg reveals humble rookie season goals

Yaxel Lendeborg is already becoming a fan favorite among Golden State Warriors supporters, and for good reason. He is always carrying himself with so much joy that his demeanor almost becomes infectious. And that’s all in addition to everything he will provide for the Dubs on the court — shooting, defense, and relentless effort.

Lendeborg, the 23-year-old forward who is older than most of his peers in the 2026 NBA Draft class, is not setting his sights on obtaining all the fame and fortune and glory that comes with making it to the association. He simply wants to be an example to the younger generation and to play the game the right way, which is going to be music to the ears of Warriors fans.

“Try to slow the game down. I don’t really have any like MVP kind of things. I just want to be a role model to the kids, I wanna be somebody that the kids look up to and wanna be like… try to be as simple as possible,” Lendeborg said in an interview with ESPN, via Oh No He Didn’t on X.

The Michigan alum is someone who knows his strengths and weaknesses as a player, and his maturity certainly made him that much more of an appealing draft pick for the Warriors brass. Golden State needs players who will fit in their system, and Lendeborg, as a player who prides himself on playing both ends of the floor, is looking like a hand and glove fit.

During Vegas Summer League action on Tuesday, Lendeborg recorded 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals while shooting 6-12 from the field (0-2 from deep, 2-2 from the foul line). He’ll be fighting hard for a prominent rotation spot come training camp, although the Warriors are still hoping that LeBron James takes his talents to the Bay, which puts a lot of things on hold for the Dubs at the moment.
