Warriors’ Stephen Curry gets top-5 praise from Jaylen Brown before Suns clash

Since joining the league back in 2009, Stephen Curry has established himself as one of, if not the best point guard in NBA history. The greatest shooter of all time is known not just for his volume scoring, the difficulty of shots he casually tends to make, or his playmaking.

His tendency to come good when his teams need him the most is also a very firm part of his greatness, and it was also on show during the Golden State Warriors’ 126-121 play-in victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. That even seems to have earned some huge praise from Jaylen Brown as the Warriors prepare to take on the Phoenix Suns, per a post on X by ClutchPoints.

“Steph Curry is one of the 5 greatest players to ever play this game. Y’all can say whatever you want, fill in the rest. Steph Curry is top 5,” Brown said during a recent livestream.

Curry’s resume undoubtedly speaks for him more than anyone else can. He has led the Warriors to four NBA championships, has two MVPs to his name, and won the Finals MVP back in 2022.

Further, the 12-time All-Star has also produced some historically memorable games for Team USA, with his performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics ranking among the best in basketball history. He produced 60 points across the semifinals and the final, averaging 14.8 points with an efficiency of over 47% from beyond the arc from the tournament.

Curry is often seen as the unanimous ‘best shooter’ in the history of the league, and continues to put in maverick performances regularly. Against the Clippers, he returned with 35 points and four assists, scoring 27 of those during the second half, which saw the Warriors overcome a 13-point deficit to extend their season.

However, are Curry’s unique offensive gifts enough to brand him as one of the best? The 12-time All-Star is not a match-winner when it comes to his defense, and the Warriors have always had to surround him with defensive lynchpins in order to get the best out of him, in addition to creating a system meant to support his shooting prowess.

Still, Stephen Curry continues to be one of the few match-winners capable of singe-handedly winning games for his team, even at the age of 38, and will undoubtedly be counted among the greats when he hangs up his boots.
