Visibly stunned Tom Brady found out he’s working Thanksgiving before brutally roasting eight-year-old kid

Tom Brady had an early Thanksgiving surprise in 2024.

The seven-time Super Bowl-winning legend was on-site at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packers‘ blowout 38-10 victory against the San Francisco 49ers as part of his $375m Fox Sports role.

Brady, who is calling games each week alongside play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt, later appeared on Fox’s ‘The OT’ post-game show when host Curt Menefee dropped some brutal news on him.

“Hey, Tom (Brady), (Michael) Strahan’s first year he learned that he actually had to work on Thanksgiving Day,” Menefee said.

“He thought he had it off. Did they tell you that before you came? You have to work on Thanksgiving Day this year.”

“What?” a visibly stunned Brady said, with his eyes wide open.

He then laughed off the quip from Menefee before Strahan jokingly suggested they skip work and have Thanksgiving dinner together and leave the show to the rest of the crew.

It’s highly likely Brady already knew about his Thanksgiving schedule, but he played along with the joke and it made for an entertaining segment.

“Might get time-and-a-half though,” joked one fan.

“Bro is now going to quit lmao,” a second wrote.

“He took it well tbh,” added another.

Brady was on duty for the Dallas Cowboys versus the New York Giants — a fierce NFC East rivalry — in Arlington, Texas.

Brady appeared shocked after ‘finding out’ he was working on Thanksgiving

The Cowboys triumphed 27-20 and will be in action again this year against the Kansas City Chiefs.

That game starts at 4:30 pm ET, but Brady and Burkhardt won’t be on the call as CBS has the honor.

The network’s top crew — Jim Nantz and Tony Romo — will be on the booth.

Brady won’t be putting his feet up, as he joins Burkhardt for the Green Bay Packers’ trip to take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in the early game.

The Lions came from behind to beat the Giants 34-27 in Week 11 and ensure they go into the holiday at 7-4 and third in the NFC North — just behind the 7-3-1 Packers.

Ahead of kickoff the QB GOAT threw passes to some young Lions fans, but not before he had been shown a clip from Week 2.

In it, Brady fired a laser at a kid in a Chiefs jersey, described as an ‘eight-year-old’ in Fox’s footage, who then dropped the pass.

“Sorry not sorry. Catch the damn ball,” he joked when asked to respond.

Brady’s colleague Erin Andrews revealed the reality of life as a broadcaster to a fan on social media heading into the Thanksgiving slate.

She explained: “This is what one of my first professors said, ‘If you don’t want to make $40,000 in your first job, get out. If you don’t want to be told you need a nose job, get out. If you don’t want to be divorced, get out. If you don’t want to work holidays, get out.’

“And I don’t say it like that, but I say you got to love what you do because I miss all holidays. I didn’t get married until I was in my 40s.

“Not that that is going to be your route, but I live out of a suitcase. I miss a lot of stuff. I missed a lot of weddings. I miss a lot of events.

“You have to love it to get you through the fact, ‘I’m not gonna be home for Thanksgiving next week’ or ‘Christmas is cut short.’”

Brady’s $375 million, 10-year deal with Fox Sports was announced prior to his retirement in February 2023.

His ‘magical’ appearances in the FOX studio have gone down a storm with fans.

However, his debut season hasn’t been without challenges

Brady had a few awkward moments during his debut.

He addressed the criticisms on his YouTube channel at the time, admitting there were some things to improve upon.

“Certainly a lot of fun, definitely some things to clean up,” he said. “So it’s all a learning process.”

As well as relegating the highly-rated Greg Olsen from FOX’s number one analyst role, criticism has centered on whether Brady will be able to do the job properly.

A matter of days after he was confirmed as part of the Las Vegas Raiders ownership group with a 5% stake in the franchise, Brady was on the call for the Kansas City Chiefs‘ game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Brady has a number of restrictions on him as a broadcaster as a result of his minority ownership in the Raiders.

He was prohibited from attending teams’ practices or production meetings with players or coaches — as is customary for broadcasters to do — and is also not permitted to criticize game officials and other clubs, but the NFL rolled back some of those exemptions for the 2025 season.
