Vikings make Seahawks assistant new GM after his Super Bowl win

A busy offseason has continued for the Minnesota Vikings. Following their surprise firing of former general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after last season, the Vikings were in the market for a new head of football operations. With head coach Kevin O’Connell looking to get a veteran roster back on track in 2026, finding a new GM was paramount for Minnesota’s leadership. Now, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on X (formerly Twitter), Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley will become the leader of a new Vikings front office.

“The Vikings agreed to terms with Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley as their general manager, sources tell NFL Network,” reported Pelissero on Saturday afternoon. “Fresh off a Super Bowl win, Teasley — regarded as one of the NFL’s top young executives — now will try to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Minnesota.”

Following a disappointing 9-8 season in which they missed the playoffs, the Vikings will now look to Teasley to add more impact to the roster. Quarterback Kyler Murray, the former Arizona Cardinals starter, was brought in to compete with third-year signal caller J.J. McCarthy for the starting job. Jauan Jennings was added to a receiver room featuring Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. First-round pick Caleb Banks will look to make his mark in the middle of Minnesota’s defensive line as well.

In a division featuring three other teams that have made postseason appearances in the last two seasons, Teasley will need to hit the ground running. At this point in the offseason, the focus will be on adding depth and potential diamonds in the rough. The Seahawks, Teasley’s former team, have been excellent at finding those unheralded contributors. Can Teasley help O’Connell finally bring a Lombardi Trophy to US Bank Stadium? If so, this hire should be a home run for the Vikings.
