USMNT’s Mauricio Pochettino compares U.S. fans to Argentina fans

As the United States men’s national team scored a win over Australia in their second game in Group D on Friday afternoon, 2-0, the fans of the squad made their presence known in a huge way in Seattle, Washington. With USMNT’s Alex Freeman giving the team a 2-0 score against Australia, head coach Mauricio Pochettino gave a take comparing the fans of the USA to those of Argentina.

There’s no doubt Argentina is one of the top soccer countries with one of the biggest fanbases, but Pochettino believes the USA fans might be “matching them.”

“Amazing, I was saying yesterday Argentina have amazing fans, but I think we are matching Argentina. It’s amazing, our fans. I am so happy for them,” Pochettino said after the win over Australia, via Fox Sports.

Besides the roaring fanbase, Pochettino would speak on the competitive and physical win over Australia, and his thoughts on their performance without top star Christian Pulisic.

“I think it was a fantastic game, again, very good first golf. I think we dominate the game again, a very tough, tough team,” Pochettino said.

“Always difficult, because we want to have all the players,” Pochettino continued. “He’s an important player for us, Christian, but as a team, it wasn’t possible today for him to play. We hope that next game, he’ll be available, but if we want to win the competition, we need the whole team, and all the players need to be important, but of course, Christian is one of the best players in the world, and hope that he can recover as soon as possible, and can enjoy on the pitch and help the team.”

At any rate, the USMNT advances to the knockout stage and could win the group if Paraguay beats or ties against Turkiye.
