USMNT captain Tyler Adams drops ‘stoked’ reaction to Alex Freeman’s ‘special’ goal
Alex Freeman achieved an incredible milestone in his soccer career with his first World Cup goal in the USMNT’s 2-0 win over Australia on Friday afternoon. Fellow teammate Tyler Adams had bright remarks to share about the moment.
Going into the contest, the U.S. were riding high on momentum after torching Paraguay 4-1 in the group opener. This ramped up the excitement level towards the national team, having a lot of attention on them going into Matchday 2 against Australia.
They were up to the challenge, having seen Australia stun Turkiye 2-0 in Matchday 1. An own goal allowed the Americans to lead in the 13th minute, then Freeman added his goal in the 43rd minute. The score needed a review from VAR for a potential offsides call. Fortunately for Freeman, the goal stood as he and the team celebrated the moment.
Adams reflected on the achievement after the game on the Fox broadcast. He praised his teammate’s character, showing the impact he is having on and off the pitch to the squad’s benefit.
“Freeman is an unbelievable character that we have in our team, such an amazing young player and amazing person. And I think you could see the excitement from everybody once he scored that goal. We were all stoked. I mean, the emotion is something special when you’re playing in a World Cup. For him to get his first World Cup goal in only his second World Cup appearance is special,” Adams said.
