UFL standout ‘made his whole life’ with preseason pick-six vs. Saints
The Los Angeles Rams found a new topic to discuss amid the ongoing Aaron Donald comeback rumors. Past UFL star Alex Cook stole the spotlight on defense during the 34-0 Saturday rout of the New Orleans Saints in NFL Preseason action.
The 27-year-old safety previously suited up for the Birmingham Stallions of the spring league. But ultimately signed with the Rams on July 27 during NFL Training Camp.
Cook stepped in front of a Spencer Rattler throw in the end zone. He virtually went untouched into the end zone, which also energized actress and Rams fan Brenda Song in the booth during the broadcast.

But Cook’s touchdown carried a more personal meaning for him as he addressed reporters after the win.
“It’s definitely a blessing. I come from the UFL…I mean I dreamed of being back in the NFL,” Cook said. “I was grateful of getting a pick six in my last UFL game. Then I started dreaming ‘if I could get one more pick six, it’ll make my whole life.” And thank God I was able to get one today.”

Cook’s touchdown covered 100 yards, easily becoming the longest defensive touchdown of this preseason. And the longest touchdown for the Rams so far in 2026 before the regular season starts for head coach Sean McVay and company.
The Elk Grove, California native Cook has endured quite the journey to the “Rams House.” He had two stints with the New York Giants in 2023 and 2024. Cook made a brief stop with the Carolina Panthers too in between. Now the Rams rise as his third NFL chance.
He’s aware that he must fight for a roster spot to stay on board. But he’s delivered a “fight everyday” mindset which manifested in that takeaway.
