UCLA football wins recruiting battle over Oregon, Notre Dame for 2029 DB

As the UCLA football program has been getting huge commitments from talented prospects, add another pledge to the tally as the school got a big one from the Class of 2029. With the UCLA football program landing players that could have an immediate impact when eligible, the latest one had offers from other top schools.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, the Bruins get a commitment from 2029 defensive back Kiingbaraka Kizzee, who was a freshman All-American last season. He is currently playing football at the high school level for Orange Lutheran, and chose UCLA over other universities like Notre Dame and Oregon, citing that assistant defensive backs coach Eddie Whitley Jr. “stood out the most.”

“What stood out the most was coach Eddie,” Kizzie said, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals. “He’s the realest. I love the player development coach. I love the energy the staff has. They want to make UCLA great again; they want to make the hometown heroes stay in the hometown.”

“We have the best players in California, so they want to keep them,” Kizzie continued. “I love how they run the system. They have a great facility. All the coaches are in on the plan they’re trying to do. I love that. They’re all-in. I love that, and I want to be a part of a program that’s all-in and developing players like coach Eddie.”

UCLA football commit shares excitement 

The UCLA football program is looking to get back into relevancy, especially in the first year under new head coach Bob Chesney. Kizzie would even say that it is “very motivating” that he could help the Bruins get over the edge, especially with how crucial his position group is.

“It’s like being a part of a trend, trendsetting. I go there, one of the first universities to believe in me, and we’ll change it around. I want to be a part of the change as well. It’s building a legacy instead of just hopping on the train,” Kizzie said.

At any rate, it remains to be seen if Kizzie’s status changes throughout high school.
