Twins receive crucial Taj Bradley injury update on Saturday
The Minnesota Twins were forced to place starting pitcher Taj Bradley on the 15-day IL after he suffered a pectoral injury, after he claimed he was dealing with soreness on May 7. On Saturday, the four-year veteran received a crucial update regarding his road to recovery.
Reports indicate that Bradley, who is 25-years old, will play in his first rehab game on Sunday with Triple-A St. Paul, according to reporter Aaron Gleeman. This news comes just days later, after the right-hander threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on May 15.
“Update: Taj Bradley (pectoral) will make a rehab appearance Sunday with Triple-A St. Paul,” reported Gleeman.
The Twins will want Bradley back on the mound as soon as possible, but ensuring he is healthy first is the top priority. Before sustaining the injury, the former Tampa Bay Ray was enjoying what might be a breakout year in 2026. In his first eight starts of the campaign, Taj Bradley owns a career-best 2.87 ERA and 1.1191 WHIP while recording 52 strikeouts through 47.0 innings pitched.
Until he’s able to return, the Twins will continue relying on a starting rotation consisting of Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, Simeon Woods Richardson, Connor Prielipp, and Zebby Matthews. Minnesota started Prielipp on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The soonest Bradley can return is May 21. It’s unknown right now whether or not he will be ready by then. But considering he is making his first rehab start on Sunday, the Twins may want to give Taj Bradley more than one rehab game before activating him off the IL.
