Twins baseman Royce Lewis’ alarming struggles continue vs. Royals after return from Triple-A
Royce Lewis continues to be in a rut as the Minnesota Twins suffered from his struggles in a brutal 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday evening.
Lewis is going through the fifth year of his career in the majors with the Twins. However, this season has been a brutal start for the infielder, seeing his batting average at a career low so far.
Minnesota tried to help him out by assigning him to its Triple-A affiliate in the minor leagues. They hoped it would give him a refresher and a wake-up call to get his hitting accuracy in order and assist the offense in a significantly positive way.
However, that scenario might take more time for it to actually happen. Lewis was up to bat in the bottom of the ninth as Minnesota needed a run to tie the game or two to walk off with the win. They had two runners on base, giving Lewis a great chance to capitalize on it and begin the process of ending his batting woes.
However, their efforts went to no avail. Lewis struck out looking as he ended the game going 0-for-3 in his at-ats, only getting a walk in Game 2 of this series.
“Royce Lewis strikes out with the game on the line. #Royals win 3-2. Lewis goes 0-3 with a walk in his first game back with the Twins. His avg drops to .159 on the season,” the post read.

How Royce Lewis, Twins played against Royals
It will take more time for Royce Lewis to get himself back up to speed. However, the Twins will hope for that to come as soon as possible.
Minnesota fell to a 30-36 record on the season, holding the third spot in the AL Central Division standings. They are above the Detroit Tigers and the Royals while trailing the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians.
The Twins look to bounce back in their series finale against the Royals at home. The contest takes place on June 7 at 2:10 p.m. ET.
