Truist Championship 2026 betting preview

Rory McIlroy’s sustained excellence at the very top of the golfing world comes into sharp focus this week.

This is the Northern Irishman’s first start since he scored another dramatic victory at The Masters.

And the venue for his return, Quail Hollow in North Carolina, is the scene of his very first PGA Tour win back in 2010.

Sixteen years on from that victory and he’s still the man to beat.

Rory has no less than four victories at Quail Hollow – 2010, 2015, 2021 and 2024 – while he’s also racked up another five top 10s on the lengthy par 71 in North Carolina.

Many will see him as a great bet at 6/1 but it’s worth noting that after last year’s Masters triumph, he didn’t win again for nearly five months.

Sepp Straka is the defending champion although he won the event at a different venue last year after the tournament moved due to staging the 2025 PGA Championship.

Scottie Scheffler won that PGA but he doesn’t take part at Quail Hollow this week.

Instead, the World No.1 has chosen to prep elsewhere ahead of his title defence at the year’s second major.

Truist Championship 2026 Golf betting tips

Here are some key betting tips and insights for the Truist Championship 2026.

🏌️‍♂️ Fowler for the win

Like McIlroy, Rickie Fowler posted his first PGA Tour win at Quail Hollow.

And, similar to McIlroy although not quite on the same level, he’s had a bunch of excellent finishes since that breakthrough win in 2012.

The Californian boasts five top six finishes at the course and is displaying the sort of form that suggests another is imminent.

Fowler flashed some good early-season form, including ninth at Bay Hill, and in his last two starts he’s reeled off top 10s at both the RBC Heritage and last week’s Cadillac Championship.

He ranked 10th and 8th respectively for Strokes Gained: Approach in those two events and that’s a key skill at Quail Hollow.

Fowler ranks 4th for Putting inside 10 feet which has been another key metric on this layout so the planets look aligned for the man in orange.

🏌️‍♂️ Adam Scott to beat Hideki Matsuyama in match bet

Adam Scott shook off a bizarre start at last week’s Cadillac Championship to come roaring through the field and finish fourth after firing 66-64 over the last 36 holes.

On day one he’d incurred a two-shot penalty for playing the wrong ball and ended the first lap much nearer last than first.

But his flying finish built on a run of good form and now he heads to a course where he was fifth in 2023 and 19th when it held the 2025 PGA Championship.

Matsuyama had some good course form in the previous decade but in his one Quail Hollow start in recent times he missed the cut in that 2025 PGA.

As for current form, he has just one top 20 in his last six starts.

🏌️‍♂️ Burns for Top 10

Sam Burns was sixth at Pebble Beach and seventh at The Masters and his big hitting and pure putting look a good recipe for this test.

He’s finished 13th and 19th on his last two Quail Hollow starts so is worth a punt at 3/1 with Betfred to make the top 10 in this limited 72-man field.
