Tottenham v Brighton prediction
Spurs fell into the Premier League relegation zone for the first time this season last weekend. The fans worst fears answered.
The north London club haven’t won a league game in 2026 plummeting down the table. They’ve allowed West Ham to leapfrog them in the league and are currently two points from safety.
But with both relegation rivals playing later in the weekend, Tottenham have a huge chance to heap the pressure of both the Hammers and Nottingham Forest if they can grab all three points.
Roberto De Zerbi admitted the players don’t need a manager, but more of a ‘father-figure’ to guide them through the remaining six matches of the campaign.
Injuries have definitely played their part this season, and news that club captain Cristian Romero will be out for the rest of the season had compounded issues. But regardless, confidence has been zapped with results not improving.
One win can change the complexion of this relegation dogfight though. Spurs did pick up a point against Champions League chasing Liverpool in March.
Any type of positive result on Saturday evening could release the pressure and get the players and the fans believing again.
Nonetheless, they will be facing the in-form team in the Premier League right now. Brighton have won five of their last six matches to catapult up the division into European contention.
Doubts around Fabien Hurzeler’s credentials have been silenced after this impressive run including wins over surprise-package Brentford, away at Sunderland and at home to Liverpool in recent weeks.
Tottenham are also bottom of the home form table, having picked up a paltry 10 points on home soil all season.
Brighton come bouncing into this one. They thrashed the Lilywhites 4-1 on the final game of the 2024/25 season and extended their unbeaten run over Spurs to three matches in September’s 2-2 draw.
Tottenham v Brighton betting tips
Seagulls first half suckerpunch
Tottenham have conceded the first goal in five of their last seven matches in all competitions. Losing six of those.
Most notably they’ve conceded within the first half an hour of matches five times since the start of March.
Brighton will have their chances in the opening exchanges and in the form striker Danny Welbeck is in, the Seagulls might just find the back of the net early.
Dirty laundry
Meetings between these two sides have rarely featured a shut-out.
You have to go back to October 2022 to see a clean sheet in this fixture. That’s a run of six matches with both teams scoring.
History of this fixture through the years shows these two teams will both concede which will make for a humdinger and both teams to score a near on banker.
