Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton predictions and betting tips – Nail-biting conclusion for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur are still not safe. A point against Everton would secure their Premier League status, but a defeat would leave the door open to West Ham United.

Will Roberto De Zerbi’s side get the result they need on home turf? Or can Everton deal a blow to their opponents’ chances of avoiding the drop?

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton predictions

What a difference seven months can make.

When Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton 3-0 in the pair’s last meeting in late October, all was well in the white and navy half of north London.

That result moved Spurs up to third in the Premier League table after nine games under Thomas Frank.

No team in the division had scored more goals than Tottenham at that point, while the early pace setters Arsenal were only five points ahead of their arch-rivals.

More pertinently looking back from this vantage point, Spurs were 12 points clear of the relegation zone. Not that anyone was discussing the prospect of demotion back then. Champions League qualification was the target for Frank and co.

In hindsight, the reverse fixture was the high point for Tottenham this term. Since that victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Spurs have collected just 21 points.

That is more than Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley over the same period, but 11 fewer than Crystal Palace and West Ham United, the two next-worst performers in that time.

All of which explains why Spurs head into the final weekend of the campaign with their top-tier status hanging in the balance.

The one silver lining is that Roberto De Zerbi’s men have their fate in their own hands. Two points clear of West Ham but with a much better goal difference, a point on Sunday would be enough for Tottenham to avoid the drop and put this nightmare behind them.

But if West Ham United beat Leeds United a few miles southeast of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, defeat by Everton would send De Zerbi’s team into the Championship.

It all comes down to this.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton betting tips

Tottenham Hotspur face Everton on the final weekend of the Premier League season – will they come out on top?

Spurs to get over line

It is often said that it is better to play teams with nothing to play for at this stage of the season, but that is not always the case.

Leeds United, for instance, look like awkward opponents for West Ham United despite (or perhaps because of) the fact they are safe and sound already.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur will appreciate the fact they are playing an Everton team that has gone six games without a win.

Spurs have been diabolical at home all season long, winning just one match in front of their own fans since the opening weekend. But on this blockbuster final day, they should find a way to see off Everton.

Honours even in first half

The nerves will be palpable at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. It is unthinkable, yet very possible, that Spurs could be on the brink of relegation out of the Premier League.

Everton will look to use that to their advantage. David Moyes’ men will allow their opponents to control the ball and instead focus on denying them space in behind.

Tottenham have struggled to break down such sides at home all season long, so Everton’s approach should work for at least part of this game.

We expect Spurs to ultimately come through, but a draw at the interval is an appealing second wager for this game.

Richarlison to find net?

Richarlison found the back of the net on Tuesday in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea which kept Tottenham Hotspur’s status hanging in the balance.

The Brazil international, who has not done enough to earn a place in his country’s World Cup squad, has his faults, but his character will be important in such a pressurised game.

Richarlison is not one to shirk responsibility. He has the personality to emerge as Tottenham’s hero against Everton, his former club.

The 29-year-old has scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season, significantly more than any of his team-mates. In fact, only nine players in the whole division have outscored Richarlison.
