Thursday horse racing tips
Catterick
- 3.40: Analogical 10/3 (1pt)
Musselburgh
- 2.50: Autumn Jewel 17/2 each-way (1pt)
Analogical
Made All has had 37 races in his career so far and five of them have come at Catterick, all of which were in 2025.
His first two starts saw wins, over course and distance) but has gone winless here since with a fourth, second and third place finish.
Percy’s Daydream a four-year-old filly from David O’Meara’s yard returned this season with a big win at Doncaster which warranted a 5lb rise in the weights.
Could be a sign of better things to come this season but this will be the decider of that after she faced plenty of three-year-old fillies that day.
Analogical gets Poppy Scott on board to offset 7lb which could be dangerous after winning at Newcastle readily and was only met with a 4lb rise for that win, two starts ago.
Nightsinwhitesatin is the clear favourite but has failed to win each of his last five starts including with plenty of claimers on board, however the key difference is he’s been consistently in higher classes in those races than his rivals.
The worry here is trainer Edward Bethell has only had one winner in 30 runners, which was 13 days ago and that winner was the shortest price of them all and his other five favourites from 5/6 to 11/4 have all failed to fire, including this horse.
Analogical has been very consistent over this trip and this season might just be finding more and more.
Autumn Jewel
There’s always a chance in these kind of races that any of these can improve, regardless of prior form given these are just two-year-olds.
All at the bottom of the market bar Stay On Tab are unraced and even the favourite Cailin Aine hasn’t exactly had the most straightforward three starts that puts her form higher than the rest.
Furtura hasn’t impressed so far but did show signs, enough to warrant an entry into a Class 2 maiden at Chester, but he was far off it that day and expectedly so too at 28/1.
Cailin Aine didn’t win when favourite last time out in a Thirsk fillies maiden and I have to say it does open things up for an unexpected bigger price winner.
Trainer Bryan Smart is usually pretty successful with his two-year-olds on turf, more so than any other age group on turf in fact in the last five years.
He’s had just three such runners this year but is in better form with a 14% strike-rate this year compared to just 10% overall last five years and sends out Autumn Jewel who has gone in from 11/1 to around 17/2.
