Chester

Roman Dragon

Roman Dragon won this last year off the same weight with Oisin Murphy on board too.

Ideally drawn again and has been hammered in the odds as 5f stays favouring the low numbered stalls. Difficult to side against this gelding even with recent poor form.

Constitution River

Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien continued their fantastic win-rate at this festival with two wins on Day 1 and have seen their big favourite for the 2.35pm listed contest hammered in from 6/4 to 10/11 already.

Morshdi does look a tough opponent though – he beat Poseidon’s Warrior last time but that horse finished fifth of five at Newmarket next time out.

However, it’s another of these being upped right in trip from 7f and should be hard to beat on pedigree, form and trainer form.

Jan Brueghel

Stablemates Jan Brueghel and Illinois get a rematch from facing each other in the Group 1 St Leger, in September 2024.

Won by a neck by Jan Brueghel who has only been seen three times since then and comes back this season off a long break.

He should suit this track well, one that Illinois has won at too – this race last year.

Jan Brueghel is the one to side with albeit at the shorter price, but he should still be a cut above the rest.
