Thunder news: Chet Holmgren chooses all-time NBA 2K27 teammates amid MyCareer Eras announcement

The release of NBA 2K27 is just around the corner, and that means everyone from casual gamers to NBA players will be locked into the new game trying to come out on top. Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren grew up a gamer, and like most players, is looking to see what he’s like in NBA 2K27.

This year’s version of NBA 2K27 features a brand new mode, pulling from the MyNBA Eras. Gamers will be able to bring their MyPlayer and start the MyCareer in five different eras:

— The Magic vs. Bird Era (1984)
— The Jordan Era (1991)
— The Kobe Era (2003)
— The LeBron Era (2010)
— The Steph Era (2016)

Each era will feature historically-locked rosters, trades, and player movement to keep the league behaving exactly as it unfolded, allowing players to be an active participant in NBA history. In addition to all that, each era will feature historic achievements and objectives to progress while also featuring era-specific settings like locker rooms, arenas, score-bugs, and more.

With the new era-specific additions to NBA 2K27, ClutchPoints had a chance to chat with Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren to gauge his thoughts on the new mode.

The first question posed to Holmgren?

“If you could go back and team up with any player in NBA history all-time, who would it be? Can you even pick just one?”

“Ooh, that’s a tough one,” Holmgren responded. “Yeah, I don’t know. Can I maybe give a starting five? Obviously Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant. Then I’d say like OKC Kevin Durant, and one more… I’d say 2011 Dirk Nowitzki.”

A starting five of Jordan, Bryant, Durant, Nowitzki, and Holmgren is solid, covering both the offensive and defensive sides of the basketball.

Holmgren had a big year of the Thunder, averaging 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. The points, rebounds, and field goal percentage were all career highs for the third year big man out of Gonzaga.

NBA 2K27 is set to release worldwide on September 4, 2026, with Early Access for the game beginning on Wednesday, August 26 for players who get the Deluxe Edition and Ultra Edition.
