Seahawks’ Mike Macdonald reveals concerning Jake Bobo injury update
The Seattle Seahawks plan to have a big season on offense, but they may be without one of their key receivers, and he might be sidelined for the year. Jake Bobo was carted off the field with a knee injury in their joint practice against the Tennessee Titans. The wide receiver went down after going for a catch on the sideline and landed awkwardly.
Head coach Mike Macdonald gave an update on Bobo’s injury the next day and noted that it was serious, according to Gregg Bell of the News Tribune.
“Coach Mike Macdonald says it’s a major knee injury for WR Jake Bobo. Says heart goes out to a beloved Seahawks player. Both teams took a knee, said a prayer for Bobo,” Bell wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Bobo appeared in 11 games for the Seahawks last season but mostly played on special teams. In the postseason, he finished with two catches, 33 yards and a touchdown.
It doesn’t seem like there is an official diagnosis on Bobo’s injury, but usually when the cart comes out for the player, it’s more bad news than good. If that’s the case, the Seahawks may be looking for someone to replace Bobo, or they might decide to look internally.
It was hard seeing Bobo getting consistent playing time at receiver this season with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed, so he probably would’ve seen most of his snaps on special teams. The Seahawks had one of the better offenses in the league last season, and that should be the case again this upcoming season.
They did lose a big part of their offense, with Kenneth Walker III signing with the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason. They’ll now lean on Zach Charbonnet to take control of the backfield, and he’s shown throughout his time with the team that he can do it.
