The Eagles player who is taking AJ Brown’s No. 11 jersey

Stop the presses, Philadelphia Eagles fans, the rumors are true: Jihaad Campbell is officially taking AJ Brown’s old number.

That’s right: after fans noticed that when filling in No. 11 on the Eagles custom jersey maker, Campbell’s name appeared, 94 WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks reported that the Alabama star is returning to his college number for the 2026 season after spending his rookie season with No. 30.

Now, for the eagle-eyed Bird fan, there’s something poetic about Campbell taking the number. After spending his rookie season learning from Nakobe Dean, another player who opted for a number in the teens instead of traditional LB digits in the 40s, 50s, or 90s, Campbell will now take up that mantle while filling Dean’s old spot on the field in 2026 next to Zack Baun as one of Vic Fangio’s two starting inside linebackers.

This move is also relevant because it marks the true, final end of the Brown era. Unlike, say, LeSean McCoy, who put up similarly dominant numbers during his way-too-short tenure in midnight green, the Eagles aren’t going to shadown retire his number like they have with No. 25 or take it out of rotation for a decade to save for the next star player to come to town like they did with Nick Foles’ old No. 9.

No, when the Eagles take the field next, Campbell will almost certainly be wearing No. 11, with his old 30 becoming available for a running back like Dameon Pierce, who may be able to ride that Corey Clement magic to a spot on the 53-man roster with a strong camp. While only time will tell if Campbell can live up to Brown’s pedigree, after a spring filled with drama, it’ll be nice to see No. 11 back on the field once more, even if another player is wearing the number.
