Packers’ Matt LaFleur vows to whip brother’s ‘a**’ at joint practice with Cardinals
Matt LaFleur is no longer the only LaFleur coaching an NFL team these days, as his brother, Mike, is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. The LaFleur siblings will get to test each other soon, with a joint practice between the Green Bay Packers and the Cardinals scheduled later this month.
Before that, Matt sent a hilarious warning to his younger brother.
“I just can’t wait to whip his a** again, I’ve been doing it my whole life… It’s gonna be a pretty special day for us,” the Packers sideline boss told Kay Adams during his Tuesday appearance on the Up & Adams Show.
The 39-year-old Mike is entering just his first season as a head coach in the NFL, and it is surely a challenge for him to help Arizona turn things around after the team missed the boat to the playoffs in each of the last four seasons. Before getting hired by the Cardinals, Mike served as the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams from 2023 to 2025. Prior to that, he held the same role for the New York Jets and handled roles as well for the San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns.
Another interesting coaching connection between the Packers and the Cardinals is Jonathan Gannon, who is now Green Bay’s defensive coordinator. He coached Arizona from 2023 to 2025 and was fired by the team in January after a 3-14 season. The Packers hired him in February to replace Jeff Hafley, who accepted a head-coaching job with the Miami Dolphins.
Green Bay and Arizona will also be facing off in Week 3 of the preseason on Aug. 28 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
