Terrell Owens reveals why he cut ties with his long-time manager

Terrell Owens is letting go of his long-time manager after claiming she stole from him.

The NFL Hall of Famer went on Instagram claiming that his manager of 15 years, Heather Mesalam, had been stealing from him. Owens shared a post that had screenshots of an alleged conversation between him and Mesalam, accounting records, and past photos of the two over the years during which he alleges that she has been taking money from him.

“A PERSON CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH!” Owens wrote in the caption. “When you’re managing someone’s affairs and getting paid to do it, you have to be accountable for it!”

He wrote that while he debated on sharing this information publicly, he decided to because if he were to have “stolen
from someone, I’d be ALL OVER the news, media, talking heads at @espn would be having a field day with it along with blogs where my reputation and character would be questioned and destroyed ruining business opportunities and relationships.”

Owens then argued that the reason why is because of the recent deaths of football players dying by suicide, he “need to get this off my chest.”

He then called her out by name, “Heather Mesalam(mezchick), it’s people like you that think that you can just steal from me and think that you’re going to get away with it.”

Owens claimed that the mismanagement of his finances have happened in the past and that he prays “THAT THE DEVIL DON’T TRICK ME AND I GIVE IN.” He then assured everything is going to be alright and most people might not get how much it affects athletes.

“It’s stuff like this that people don’t see and may consider small but it’s what triggers us as athletes and those that have committed suicide in what some call, a selfish act,” he continued. “I’m posting this because mezchick has handled my business affairs for 15+ years and I discovered on last Oct 3rd that she had stolen from me. The video screenshot puts everything in perspective.”

At the end of his message he thanked those who have helped him during this time and confirmed that Mesalam “who stole from me and no longer working for me in any capacity.”

According to the screenshots in Owens’s post, Mesalam’s monthly management fee allegedly increased from $1,300 to $1,500 without his approval.

Owens shared the text message with Mesalam allegedly read: “Without my knowledge… that’s stealing.”

Fans in the comment section has mixed opinions on the situation.

“She worked for you for 15yr and you’re only paying her 14k a year?” one fan asked. “Thats like McDonald’s money bro what are we missing here this can’t be right.”

Another comment called Owens “unprofessional” for sharing this information online.

“Man I know you got more money than most, but it’s 2026, you can set all ur bills to autopay vs paying someone $1500 to do. Also, this looks so unprofessional. I hope u adjust and do better. Good luck,” the comment read.

Other comments shared that Owens was overreacting about the alleged $200 increase of her monthly pay which a fan defended the former NFL star, “And for the people saying ‘it was only $200,’ that’s not the point. Those were HIS $200, and it wasn’t “only 200” anything. It was over a span of months. A little there and a little here adds up.
And even if it was A month. That’s his money.”

At this time, Mesalam has not responded to Owens’ accusations.
