Tempo’s Marina Mabrey ties WNBA history with incredible 3-point effort vs. Sun

Marina Mabrey made incredible WNBA history as she experienced a historic night from beyond the arc in the Toronto Tempo’s win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night.

Mabrey is going through the eighth season of her career, her first with the Tempo. She has enjoyed past years of being one of the best sixth men in the entire league, impressing with quality scoring nights off the bench.

Mabrey has embraced a full-time starting role with Toronto and is flourishing on the squad. That was certainly the case in the team’s victory over the Sun.

In 33 minutes of action, Mabrey torched the nets with a stat line of 37 points, four rebounds and four assists. She shot 14-of-24 from the field, including 9-of-12 from beyond the arc. Her efforts allowed her to make history with the 3-pointers she made throughout the night.

How Marina Mabrey, Tempo played against Sun

Marina Mabrey was dominant as she helped the Tempo escape with a 101-97 victory over the Sun.

It was incredible as Toronto trailed 74-64 going into the fourth quarter. They ignited an incredible rally by outscoring the Sun 37-23 in the last 10 minutes of regulation.

Four players scored in double-digits for Toronto in the win, including Mabrey. Temi Fagbenle had a solid night with 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Maria Conde came next with 19 points and six rebounds, while Isabelle Harrison provided 15 points and six rebounds.

Toronto improved to an 8-8 record on the season, sitting at fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Washington Mystics and the Chicago Sky while trailing the Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty.

The Tempo will look forward to their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the Atlanta Dream as tip-off can take place on June 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
