Taylor Swift reacts to Blake Lively case update against Justin Baldoni
A federal judge dismissed several of Blake Lively’s claims in her sexual harassment case against Justin Baldoni, and the actress’s best friend, Taylor Swift, has reportedly shared her reaction.
Swift and Lively have been friends for a decade, but the lawsuit has reportedly put a strain on their relationship. 10 of the 13 claims have been dismissed, leaving three to be left for when the case hits trial in May. According to AOL, Swift is happy that the case is getting “dramatically weaker” so that it won’t be dragged into when she plans to wed Travis Kelce, which reportedly could occur this summer. The insider added that Swift reacted to the news, saying it’s a “huge relief.”
The Gossip Girl alum shared how she felt amid the judge’s decision to dismiss some of her claims.
“I’m grateful for the Court’s ruling which allows the heart of my case to be presented to a jury next month, and for the ability to finally tell my story in full at trial, for my own sake, but also for those who don’t have the same opportunity to… many of whom I have known and loved deeply in my life, and the countless I’ll never know,” Lively wrote in her Instagram statement per ABC.
“The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive RETALIATION I faced, and continue to, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment for myself and others,” Lively wrote in her statement. “I hope the Court’s decision shows others that, as unfathomably painful as it is, you can speak up.”
As for Baldoni, his attorneys said they were “very pleased the Court dismissed all sexual harassment claims and every claim” brought against Baldoni and his co-defendants.”
“These were very serious allegations, and we are grateful to the Court for its careful review of the facts, law and voluminous evidence that was provided,” Baldoni’s legal team said. “What’s left is a significantly narrowed case, and we look forward to presenting our defense to the remaining claims in court.”
Lively first filed her lawsuit in December 2024, where she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of It Ends With Us. She also claimed Baldoni who not only starred in the Colleen Hoover adaptation but directed it, of launching a smear campaign against her.
Baldoni denied Lively’s allegations and countersued for $400 million against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, Leslie Sloane, which was dismissed in June 2025. He alleged that they were trying to tarnish his reputation.
Swift has denied any involvement in the case. Her song “My Tears Ricochet” appears in the film but other than the use of the song her team has denied any involvement.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024,” the spokesperson told CNN on Friday (May 9).
“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case,” the spokesperson added.
The case will go to jury next month.
