Standout Packers RB Gets Nominated For Notable NFL Award

The Green Bay Packers needed all hands on deck on Sunday. With Josh Jacobs out with a knee injury, someone would have to step up to lead the way against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fortunately for them, backup RB Emanuel Wilson was more than up to the task. That’s why, after his strong performance, it’s not much of a surprise to see him being nominated for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week:

Wilson was shifty and explosive out of the backfield. He forced missed tackles left and right, and he was a factor with his pass blocking and reliable hands in the passing game as well.

It was a much-welcome performance after watching Jacobs leave the 27-20 win over the New York Giants with a knee injury. His status for Sunday’s game was up in the air for most of the week, but the Packers ultimately chose to err on the side of caution with their star running back.

Jacobs’ availability will continue to be a talking point now that the Packers will be on a short week before traveling to face off with the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving for their second matchup of the season. If he can’t go, Wilson will most likely be in for another expanded role.

The Packers’ offensive line has failed to get much going on the ground, and Jacobs’ numbers have taken a big dive as a result. Still, it’s never too late to turn things around, and Sunday’s win was certainly a big step in that direction.
