  • Celtic to win each half, Camilo Duran to score, over 3.5 goals – (was 29/10) NOW 10/3
  • Both teams to score, over 3.5 goals, over 10.5 goals – (was 13/4) NOW 18/5
  • Celtic to win to nil, Kasper Hogh to score first, Camilo Duran to score – (was 17/2) NOW 10/1

The Bhoys will be aiming to start their title defence with three points as they set their sights on an unprecedented sixth consecutive league crown.

Celtic secured the championship in extraordinary fashion last season. They went into the final day second in the table, knowing they had to beat Hearts in a winner-takes-all showdown to reclaim top spot.

After falling 1-0 behind, Martin O’Neill’s side produced a remarkable late turnaround, scoring twice from the 87th minute onwards to seal a dramatic victory. The result secured a fifth successive title and a record 56th Scottish championship, moving Celtic ahead of Rangers in the all-time standings for the first time in almost a century.

Celtic were strong favourites heading into the opening weekend and have already seen their chances of starting the season top of the table improve without kicking a ball. None of the three teams immediately behind them in the pre-match betting have managed to win their opening fixtures.

Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee United in Friday night’s curtain-raiser, while Hearts and Hibs both suffered defeats against Aberdeen and Motherwell respectively.

A victory tonight would therefore give Celtic an early advantage over their Old Firm rivals, with new signing Camilo Duran also in line to make his debut following his move from Qarabag.

O’Neill’s side endured a difficult pre-season, failing to win any of their four friendlies. Celtic drew with Shelbourne, Middlesbrough and AC Milan, while suffering defeat against Sporting Lisbon, but they will be confident of putting that run behind them when the competitive action begins.

Dundee, meanwhile, already have four competitive fixtures under their belt after entering the League Cup at the group stage. Steven Pressley’s side enjoyed an unbeaten run through the competition, winning three games and drawing the other to finish top of their group and secure their place in the knockout rounds.

The Dee finished eighth in the Premiership last season and will likely have similar ambitions this time around, although their strong finish to the previous campaign will have given supporters hope of pushing for a place in the top six.

Dundee also showed plenty of attacking firepower in their League Cup campaign, scoring four or more goals in three of their four matches. Celtic will represent a significant step up in quality, but Pressley’s side should arrive at Celtic Park full of confidence.
