Spurs legend Manu Ginobili shares perfect reaction to Luke Kornet’s iconic Game 7 block

The fourth quarter of Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals clash between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder was as tense as it gets — with the Thunder trying to claw their way back from a deficit against the Spurs at home. OKC had scored five straight to cut an 11-point deficit to just six, 97-91, forcing the Spurs to take a timeout with 6:48 to go in the game.

On the next possession, disaster ensued for the Spurs. Dylan Harper turned the ball over, with Isaiah Hartenstein running out in transition with a runway towards the basket. Luke Kornet then turned on the jets and met Hartenstein at the rim — stuffing his dunk attempt and making sure that the Spurs kept the Thunder at bay. San Antonio then rode the wave and protected the lead on their way to earning a 111-103 win to book their place in the 2026 NBA Finals.

The importance of that play was not lost on Spurs legend Manu Ginobili, who put every Spurs fan’s thoughts into words with his post on X (formerly Twitter).

“This one was the game-winning play! It changed everything!! Luuuuuuuuke!!” Ginobili wrote.

Who knows what would have happened had Hartenstein finished the transition opportunity and trimmed the Spurs’ lead to four. It would have been anxiety-inducing, to say the least. But after Kornet’s block, they were able to protect their lead — with the Spurs’ lead not going under six points for the final six minutes of the contest.

Kornet has caught some flak this series for not being too viable of a Victor Wembanyama backup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But he showed, at the moment the Spurs needed him the most, that bringing him in via free agency was one of the most crucial decisions they made prior to the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
