Keenan Allen arrested on 2 DWI charges literally hours after making Colts debut

The Indianapolis Colts wrapped up their preseason on Saturday. Indy lost 25-16 against Detroit with final roster cuts on the horizon. One Colts player just got into some legal troubles right before those decisions need to happen. And mere hours following his debut in a Colts uniform.

Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested for DUI on early Sunday morning, per Nathan Brown of IndyStar. Allen was arrested on two preliminary misdemeanor charges: DWI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more and DWI endangering a person.

Indy released a short statement after news of Allen’s arrest broke.

“We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night,” the Colts said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”

The Colts signed Allen to a one-year contract worth $8.32 million on August 17th.

Allen’s arrest came just hours after the 14-year veteran made his debut in a Colts uniform on Saturday. He hauled in one reception for 24 yards against the Lions.

Indianapolis had big plans for Allen after signing him, especially with Alec Pierce still injured and his Week 1 status still up in the air. It is currently unclear how the Colts, or the NFL, will respond to Allen’s arrest ahead of the regular season.

Allen proved over the past two seasons that he is still capable of playing at a high level. He went over 70 receptions, 700 receiving yards, and four touchdowns with the Bears in 2024 and Chargers in 2025. If the Colts got that level of production from Allen in 2026, then their offense should be in great shape.
