Bears trade Gervon Dexter to Falcons for player, pick
The Chicago Bears have been shopping young defensive tackle Gervon Dexter for a while now, looking for a trade. On Sunday, the Bears finally made a deal, sending Dexter to the Atlanta Falcons for a cornerback and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
“The #Bears are trading DT Gervon Dexter Sr to the #Falcons, as they add a player who started 17 games last season, per me and
@AdamSchefter,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported. “The Bears are getting back Clark Phillips and 5th rounder.”
Dexter is still just 24 years old. The former Florida Gator was a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, he was surplus to requirements in Chicago, so at least the Bears got something in return with this Falcons trade.
Phillips, the corner coming back, is also 24 and was a 2023 fourth-round selection out of Utah.
