Spurs’ Dylan Harper breaks Derrick Rose’s record in Game 5 Timberwolves takedown
The San Antonio Spurs knew that they were in for a physical combat with the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their second-round series at Frost Bank Center on Tuesday.
So the Spurs locked in and came storming out of the gates. They stayed aggressive on both ends of the floor, catching the Timberwolves off guard. San Antonio led by as much as 30 points.
The second unit, led by Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper, also made sure that they maintained their energy. Johnson scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Dylan Harper had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
According to SpursReport’s Dusty Garza, Harper surpassed Derrick Rose as the youngest guard in league history to record multiple double-doubles in the playoffs.
Dylan Harper just made playoff history.
He is now the youngest guard EVER to record multiple playoff double-doubles per @realapp.

The 20-year-old Harper had 27 points and 10 rebounds in their win over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 3 of their first-round matchup.
Rose, who was then with the Chicago Bulls, had a pair of double-doubles in his first series in the playoffs in 2009.
When the Spurs drafted Harper as the No. 2 pick out of Rutgers, they envisioned him to provide energy and spunk off the bench. That is exactly what he has done.
He has hiked up his numbers in the playoffs, averaging 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on top of 2.2 assists. He also saw his minutes increase to 25.1.
Harper, who went viral for his reaction to Victor Wembanyama’s elbow to Naz Reid in Game 4, has been a two-way spark against the Timberwolves. He has done a decent job of making everything difficult for Anthony Edwards.
Harper will continue to play a key role, as the Spurs look to finish off the Timberwolves in Game 6 at Target Center on Friday.
