Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox vows to give it his all for San Antonio in NBA Finals

De’Aaron Fox and the San Antonio Spurs have returned the franchise to the grandest stage in basketball, and they have no intention of letting the opportunity slide.

San Antonio clinched its first NBA Finals berth since 2014 by executing a masterful 111-103 road victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals. The road wasn’t easy for the veteran playmaker, who missed the first two games of the series due to an injury. Despite battling through physical defensive schemes from Oklahoma City, Fox’s veteran leadership anchored the young Spurs backcourt. His reliable production perfectly complemented a standout team performance.

Victor Wembanyama paced the Silver and Black with 22 points, while Julian Champagnie caught fire with 20 points, courtesy of six triples. Rookie Stephon Castle added an efficient 16 points.

Oklahoma City relied heavily on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who erupted for 35 points and nine assists, but the Spurs’ depth ultimately wore out the defending champions down the stretch.

San Antonio shifts its focus to the New York Knicks for an iconic Finals matchup starting Wednesday night. Fox understands the historical weight of wearing the Spurs jersey.
