Spurs boast clean bill of health heading into NBA Finals Game 1 vs. Knicks
The San Antonio Spurs are ready to face the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, and it should be an exciting matchup between the two teams. Both teams have dealt with injuries here and there throughout the postseason, and many are wondering what the injury report looks like heading into the first game.
For the Spurs, they don’t have anybody listed on the injury report, which is good after noting the players that were dealing with things in the Western Conference Finals.
De’Aaron Fox missed a few games of the WCF with an ankle injury, but he came back and was one of the key reasons why they advanced to the Finals. Dylan Harper also dealt with an injury, but he didn’t miss any time and hit some big shots in Game 7.
The guards will be important for the Spurs’ success in this series, and it’s good that they’re coming in with no limitations. Health in general has been key for the Spurs in the postseason, and in the end, it’s usually the team that doesn’t have many injuries that makes it further than others. The Thunder are a perfect example of what happens when you’re hurt, as Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell were barely available last series.
As for the Knicks, they’ve been healthy for most of the postseason, but right after their win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was announced that Mitchell Robinson had a hand injury that needed surgery. He still plans to play in this series, but is listed as questionable before Game 1. It will be interesting to see how the injury affects him throughout the series.
The frontcourt battle will be something to keep an eye on, as Robinson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Victor Wembanyama have all had an impact on their team’s success.
