Son of WWE Hall of Famer signed by Saints as UDFA
The Saints are adding a surprisingly big name to their rookie class, albeit one that might not jump out at you at first glance. Brock Rechsteiner, who played wide receiver at Jacksonville State has signed with New Orleans — but is best known by his family’s wrestling lineage: Brock is the son of former WCW World Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner.
Officially listed as a wide receiver, Rechsteiner was primarily a backfield pass catcher who operated most like a fullback inside the Gamecocks offense. He finished his three-year career at Jacksonville State with 646 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns, but it’s his 6’2, 225-pound frame that’s most intriguing as a fairly raw prospect trying to find a way onto the roster.
The Saints currently have a crowded wide receiver room, albeit one without a lot of quality depth on the back-end — making the potential he could at least find his way onto the practice squad a little better than usual. Rechsteiner’s ability as a hybrid H-Back/WR provides a wrinkle that will set him apart from other hopefuls at the position.
While Rechsteiner’s focus is currently on football, he has one hell of a backup plan. In 2025 he joined WWE’s Next In Line class, which gives NIL money to student athletes with promising athletic backgrounds, also giving them the chance to be trained as pro wrestlers, should they desire. It goes without saying that wrestling is open to Rechsteiner, should he want to go that route. His cousin, Bronson Rechsteiner is currently a WWE superstar wrestling under the name “Bron Breakker,” a path he pursued after failing to make it to the NFL as a fullback out of Kennesaw State. Bronson is the son of Rick Steiner, who tagged with Scott and entered the WWE Hall of Fame with his brother in 2022.
Rechsteiner will participate in offseason workouts with the Saints immediately, with training camp set to begin later this Summer.
