Shannon Sharpe makes huge HBCU move with Nightcap podcast

Savannah State alumnus Shannon Sharpe is taking his popular Nightcap podcast to HBCUs this fall. On Sunday, Sharpe announced that the podcast is going on an HBCU tour, starting with Prairie View A&M in September.

“I’m so excited, so, so very excited, to announce…our very first HBCU tour. That’s right, it’s happening. The show is on Friday, September 4th, live from the Baby Dome at Prairie View A&M ahead of their big Labor Day Classic against Texas Southern. The show will feature everyone, the team, the cheerleaders, the band, including a fraternity and sorority step show competition for cash prizes.

Sharpe added, “So PV, we gonna need you to turn up. We gonna need you to come out, support, ’cause this is, hey, this is it. This is what we’ve been planning. This is something that’s been in the making for a better part of two years. And we’ve been finally able to pull it off.”

The tour stop at Prairie View A&M is notable because of Chad Ochocinco’s tie to the institution. His daughter Chadé Johnson graduated from the institution in May 2025. He expressed his excitement in returning for the tour.

“Hey, I’m, I’m hyped. You know, my baby just graduated from PV last year. She’s… I don’t wanna be disrespectful, but she wear the pink and green, right? You know, so I’m happy to go back. I know the band director, I know the head coach, so I’m excited. I haven’t had the opportunity to go back to PV since then. You know, it’s right down the road, boy, I can’t wait.”
