Robert Saleh reveals Brock Purdy reason he’s not worried about Cam Ward stinking it up
The Tennessee Titans are entering a new era under head coach Robert Saleh in 2026. Saleh and QB Cam Ward are now the face of the organization. They will be tasked with turning Tennessee into a contender. Ward still has some blemishes in his game, but his head coach is confident it everything will work out well for the Titans.
Saleh explained why he is not worried about inconsistencies from Ward this early in the team’s offseason program.
“Overall, I mean every quarterback is going to miss a couple here and there but I think Cam’s done a really nice job throwing at OTAs,” Saleh said, per ESPN’s Turron Davenport.
Saleh has not been shy about praising Ward this offseason. But he is clearly willing to talk about the young quarterback’s faults with the media, too.
Saleh then used a surprising Brock Purdy example to illustrate that every NFL quarterback misses throws during practice sometimes.
“All of these guys are going to miss throws,” Saleh added. “… I would say Brock Purdy’s one of the most accurate quarterbacks in all of football and he would miss a lot of throws and that’s okay. These guys are all working on a few things here and there. As we get closer and he gets more comfortable in the system… the expectation is things start cleaning up.”
Ward played well in a bad situation during his rookie campaign. He had 3,169 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025.
Tennessee has to be hopeful that Saleh, plus the addition of receivers like Wan’Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate, can help Ward turn things around.
It will be fascinating to see how Ward looks throwing the football during training camp.
