It’s great to be a Florida Gator.

The 100th career victory on the PGA Tour by a Florida Gator officially belongs to Ricky Castillo as he pulled through in the Puerto Rico Open on Sunday.

Castillo is still incredibly young and green as a PGA Tour player at only 25 years old. Breaking through and getting that first win is such a big deal for players at and around his age, and Puerto Rico has long served as a launching point for careers in that regard.

Consider that Puerto Rico has seen 12 players since 2008 capture their first PGA Tour win at their tournament, the most of any tournament in that span. The victory gives Castillo exemption through 2028 and a start in this season’s PGA Championship. He will also be in the field at the Players Championship this week at TPC Sawgrass.

The University of Florida will be on the lookout for their 101st PGA Tour victory in the near future. Perhaps it will be Castillo who takes it as well, or maybe Billy Horschel can find his way back into the winner’s circle. It would be fitting for this win to come throughout the Florida swing.

We will see.
