Lakers’ LeBron James gets hyped over Nelly Korda’s US Women’s Open win

With Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs not happening until Monday, the attention of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James was, as expected, focused on the final of the US Women’s Open on Sunday.

Nelly Korda won the title for the first time in dramatic fashion at Riviera Country Club in California, as her final putt slowly rolled into the hole, giving her a 2-under 69. She defeated Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez by one shot.

Korda won her fourth major crown and took home the record-setting $2.5 million cash prize.

James was hyped for Korda’s latest victory, posting a congratulatory remark on his Instagram Story.

The 41-year-old James became an avid golfer last year, and he has been intently following and studying the sport.

He even gifted the 27-year-old Korda a pair of custom Nike LeBron golf shoes, which she wore in the first round. She, however, had to swap them out for her usual shoes after six holes because they were a little loose.

Now that she has ruled the US Women’s Open, maybe it is Korda who should give James her golf shoes as memorabilia. Or even give trade secrets. Because the four-time MVP would be the first to admit that his swing needs more work.

Korda, the former LPGA Tour Player of the Year, won her second straight major tournament after her triumph in the Chevron Championship in April.

“I feel like I’m in a dream. I just can’t even explain how much this means to me with all of you here cheering me on,” said Korda to the gallery on Sunday, as reported by ESPN.

Clearly, James was also cheering for her at home.
