Lamine Yamal makes £35,000 World Cup promise – on one condition

Lamine Yamal has made two promises to his fans ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

The 18-year-old is preparing to make his tournament debut for Spain in North America.

After winning the Euros two years ago, Yamal is part of Luis de la Fuente’s squad for the World Cup.

Yamal’s World Cup promise

Ahead of the tournament, the Barcelona forward took part in a Q&A as part of a video shared to his YouTube channel.

To conclude the video, Yamal was asked if he had any promises if Spain win the World Cup.

In response, the teenager vowed to grow a full beard and moustache by not shaving for three weeks.

He explained: “I promise that if I win the World Cup, I’ll grow a full beard and moustache for (cameraman says ‘one year’)… A whole year?! Three weeks.”

However, that is not all, with Yamal adding that he would also raffle 100 pairs of Beats by Dre headphones.

Yamal continued: “I promise that if I win the World Cup, I’ll raffle 100 Beats.”

The headphones can retail at up to £350 or more per pair, meaning a World Cup triumph for Spain could now cost Yamal £35,000.

It would be his country’s second victory in the tournament after their maiden win back in 2010.

Yamal is currently a brand ambassador for Beats, having recently been spotted wearing an unreleased pair of their headphones.

Will Yamal be fit for the World Cup?

Spain are currently sweating on the fitness of Yamal ahead of the start of the World Cup.

A hamstring injury has sidelined the youngster since April, with Yamal missing the end of the season with Barcelona.

However, De la Fuente has revealed he is hopeful to have his star man available for their opening match of the tournament.

Spain begin their campaign against Cape Verde in group H on Monday, June 15.

They will then face both Saudi Arabia and Uruguay during the group stage.

Yamal is looking to make his World Cup debut after winning Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024.

He was also included in the Team of the Tournament in Germany two years ago after one goal and four assists in seven appearances.

Since making his senior international debut aged 16 in 2023, Yamal has scored six goals in 25 caps for Spain.

Meanwhile, he is fresh off the back of another title-winning season with Barcelona.

As well as winning LaLiga, he scored 24 goals and added 18 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
