Nelly Korda stands alone. Still.

The United States Women’s Open took place over the weekend at Riviera Country Club and it was a star-studded course for a star-studded event.

Perhaps it is appropriate then that the biggest star on the LPGA Tour in some time survived a leaderboard full of top-tier names. Nelly Korda is a U.S. Open Champion.

Korda overcame an opening round of 2-over which is pretty impressive given the circumstances and terrain. She evened herself out with a 2-under Friday, but it was the world number one’s 6-under on Saturday that put her within striking distance.

Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez, who finished tied for second, did all they good to make it a run on Sunday, but Nelly went 2-under on Sunday which was good enough to get it done. Most notably Korda birdied number 17 to take the outright lead and snuck in a par on the iconic 18th to seal the win.

The title marks Nelly’s fourth career major championship, and given that she is just 27 years old she is on pace for some historic achievements. Even more than she already has, obviously.

Nelly also took home the Chevron Championship this year, her second Chevron title, so she has won both majors that have been played this year across the LPGA Tour. It is truly her world right now.

Congratulations to the U.S. Women’s Open Champion.
