Ravens rumors: Zay Flowers gets eye-opening contract prediction from insider

The Baltimore Ravens are entering a new era in 2026. Baltimore moved on from John Harbaugh this offseason, leaving the team with a new coaching staff for the first time in several years. Baltimore’s new regime has some important contract decisions to make early in their tenure.

ESPN’s Jamison Hensley named wide receiver Zay Flowers as a player who could get a contract extension before the regular season in a recent article.

“It wouldn’t be surprising if Flowers and the Ravens reach an extension before the start of the season, which is exactly what happened with safety Kyle Hamilton last year,” Hensley wrote. “Flowers wants to stay, saying he would like to play his entire career in Baltimore. General manager Eric DeCosta believes it’s important to keep Flowers, who has developed into a leader on offense.”

Flowers is on the final year of his rookie contract and is eligible to receive an extension at any time. The Ravens did pick up his fifth-year option earlier this offseason. That locks Flowers in with a $27.298 million contract in 2027.

By all accounts, the Ravens are extremely interested in keeping Flowers around for a long time.

“The goal would be to get a long-term deal with him if we can,” GM Eric DeCosta said during the draft, per Hensley. “And I fully expect we will.”

Baltimore also has to keep QB Lamar Jackson in mind. Jackson is also due a contract extension that could make him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

However, Baltimore’s salary cap does not feature much space for any contract extensions past the 2026 season. The Ravens are $64.94 million in the red looking ahead at the 2027 offseason. That could make it difficult to keep both Flowers and Jackson on long-term deals without making additional sacrifices.

Ultimately, the Ravens do not need to make any additional moves before the 2026 season. But if Flowers or Jackson force the issue, it’s possible taht a deal could get done before the fall.
