Rangers vs Braga predictions
It has been a tumultuous few months for Rangers.
In appointing Russell Martin in the summer, the powers that be at Ibrox hoped they had identified the club’s next title-winning manager.
Not quite. Martin’s ill-fated spell in charge lasted for just four months. Even with such a short tenure, most Rangers fans felt he had outstayed his welcome.
Danny Rohl is gradually getting things together after replacing Martin in the hot seat last month. Four wins in a row in the Premiership have lifted Rangers up to fourth in the table.
The title is surely out of reach, but a top-two finish looks like a much more realistic target after this uptick in form.
That does not mean everything is settled at the club, however. On Monday Rangers announced the sacking of their chief executive, Patrick Stewart, and the sporting director, Kevin Thelwell. Both men were ultimately held responsible for Rangers’s dismal start to the season.
“Patrick and Kev are both skilled executives and have delivered a lot for the club in their time with it,” said chairman Andrew Cavenagh in a statement published on the club’s website.
“We’ve now had six months since we became part of Rangers to assess the club’s needs as well as to get to know Patrick and Kev a bit more.”
“Simply put, when we think about what we need in both CEO and sporting director today, it’s different than who we think Patrick and Kev are.”
The search for their successors has begun, but Rohl must ensure off-field business does not become a distraction for his team.
The German’s immediate focus is on Thursday’s game against Braga. Rangers fans have not had anything to cheer about in Europe so far this season. After losing in the Champions League play-offs, the Scottish giants have gone on to suffer four defeats out of four in the Europa League.
As a result, Rangers are rooted to the foot of the table at the midway point of the league phase.
All is not lost yet, though. The new format means it is almost impossible to be cut adrift with four matches remaining. Rangers are five points behind the play-offs, a sizable but not insurmountable gap.
If they are to claw their way back into contention, a victory here is a must.

Rangers vs Braga betting tips
Rangers are looking for their first win of the Europa League season against Braga.
Rangers’s struggles to continue
Unfortunately for Rangers, this could be another difficult night in the Europa League.
It is true that the Gers have improved under Rohl, but it would have been hard for them to get any worse than they were with Martin in the dugout.
Moreover, the strides forward have been limited to domestic football. On Rohl’s watch, Rangers have lost 3-0 to Brann and 2-0 to Roma in this tournament.
Braga have made a solid start to the league phase, winning three out of four matches to sit fifth in the standings.
The Portuguese outfit should have too much for Rangers on Thursday evening.

Rangers can at least score
Rangers’s four Europa League outings up to now have yielded a solitary goal, and they are yet to find the back of the net at Ibrox in this competition.
On this measure at least, there is room for a little more confidence. Rangers have improved their attacking output over the last few weeks, drawing just one blank in six games.
Braga, for their part, have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last four matches. In their last Europa League contest, they shipped four goals to Genk.
That suggests their defence can be got at. Rangers must ensure they pose a threat in front of their own supporters.

Zalazar one to watch
No Braga player has a better goalscoring record this season than Rodrigo Zalazar.
The Uruguay international has beaten opposition goalkeepers on 10 occasions in domestic and continental football.
Zalazar has saved his best form for the Europa League, where he has scored six times if you include Braga’s qualifying fixtures.
Rangers will have to keep a close eye on him. Although they have generally looked better under Rohl, the Gers are still giving up chances.
If they do that on Thursday, do not be surprised if Zalazar takes full advantage.
