‘Predictable propaganda spewed’ – Fox broadcaster blasts ESPN and accuses them of schilling for the SEC

It’s going to get messy.

There will be arguments, public declarations, and scoldings. There will be a war of words over resumes, worthy teams, and those deemed unworthy.

That’s the reality as the College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings come to a final decision.

One prominent broadcaster is getting ahead of the final discourse by calling out ESPN and its bias toward the SEC.

Fox broadcaster slams SEC’s ‘never ending playoff privilege’

Ever since Texas upset Texas A&M last week, many of ESPN’s top analysts and loudest voices have been advocating for the inclusion of the 9-3 Longhorns in the CFP.

Fox’s Tim Brando has since gone on the offensive attack and is calling out the clear favoritism.

Paul Finebaum argued that leaving Texas out of the College Football Playoff would punish the Longhorns for ‘doing the right thing’ by scheduling a challenging schedule.

And by that he means playing Ohio State in Columbus in Week 1.

Meanwhile, College GameDay analyst and one of the sport’s most prominent voices, Kirk Herbstreit, said Texas deserved consideration for the playoff if they beat A&M.

Brando has said not so fast.

“The predictable propaganda spewed by @GregSankey before the season and @TexasFootball from @CoachSark last night was and is laughable,” Brando wrote on X.

“I discussed this weeks ago, and thankfully after flying my redeye home from Arizona, all the @espn guru’s with their ‘AllState Playoff Predictor’ didn’t disappoint!”

Brando wasn’t running from any smoke, as he tagged both Finebaum and Herbstreit in the post.

“@finebaum ‘Sark was eloquent last night’. @KirkHerbstreit ‘strength of schedule blah blah’ the NEVER ENDING PURE PLAYOFF PRIVILEGE is once again on FULL DISPLAY!

“Other than @ESPNBooger as he was last year, seemingly is without SEC agenda’s. The rest simply take their usual marching orders. You would think 5 out of 12 teams would be enough! No, not in the IT JUST MEANS MORE League.

“They’ll not stop spinning yarn until they get 6 of the 12 teams in. A lot has changed this year in CFB, sadly not this! Pure Playoff Privilege.”

Tell them how you really feel Brando.

ESPN, of course, dominates the college football conversation each weekend, but Brando isn’t about to let the network push its own narrative unchecked.

Penultimate CFP rankings revealed

Soon after Brando’s explosive social media rant, the CFP Selection Committee revealed its penultimate rankings for 2025.

The list serves as a table setter for Selection Sunday (December 7) and is important in establishing the final order, both for seeds, and for teams fighting to make the field.

There has been little change at the top, with Ohio State and Indiana — the two unbeaten teams — still leading.

Georgia (11-1) has moved up to No. 3, with Texas Tech, Oregon and Ole Miss close behind.

The Rebels moved up a spot to No. 6 after winning their season finale against Mississippi State, but have lost head coach Lane Kiffin, who took the LSU job and will not coach Ole Miss in the Playoff.

Texas’ big win over Texas A&M last week knocked the Aggies out of the top three for the first time in 2025. They now sit at No. 7, while the Longhorns are the highest ranked team with three losses.

Arch Manning & Co. hold the 13th spot, and will hope to make it into the 12-team bracket on Sunday.
